SiCE-2020 (Silicon Carbide in Europe 2020) was originally scheduled in Catania (Italy) on May 4-6, 2020. In order to maximize the impact of this event, it was decided to organize the workshop as a joint event in collaboration with two other European projects focused on Silicon Carbide. The first is the project CHALLENGE, coordinated by CNR, which deals with the technologies of cubic polytype 3C-SiC for power electronics. The second one is the project REACTION, coordinated by the STMicroelectronics, focused on the developement of a pilot line for 200mm SiC technology.

In this way, it was possible to attract more interest of the SiC community, which is in general oriented towards more consolidated yearly events, such as ECSCRM/ICSCRM. The complete organization of the event has been put in place, through the definition of the location, website creation, committees’ definition, involvement of an agency, etc. Abstracts submission took place and was a great success. Unfortunately, due to the emergency related to Covid-19, the SiCE-2020 has been cancelled in its original form and organized as a satellite event of the Virtual Conference Automotive 2020 by AEIT.
